Tamil superstar Suriya’s much-awaited fantasy actioner Kanguva has finally arrived in theatres. Being one of the most anticipated movies of the year, the expectations were huge from this epic fantasy saga. Unfortunately, the film hasn’t received positive feedback from critics. Kanguva OTT Release Date and Platform
According to online reports, Kanguva will premiere on Amazon Prime Video. According to the film’s producer Gnanavelraja of Studio Green, the South Indian digital rights alone have been sold to Amazon Prime Video for ₹80 crore.
There is no official update on when Kanguva will make its digital debut on Amazon Prime Video. However, most Tamil films make their digital debut around 6 weeks after their theatrical release. So, we expect Kanguva to start streaming on Amazon Prime Video in the last week of December.
Kanguva Movie Budget
Made on a whopping budget of around ₹300–350 crore, Kanguva is one of the most expensive Indian films ever made.
Kanguva reportedly made a pre-release recovery of over ₹500 crore (US$60 million), setting a new record for Tamil films. This includes the sale of digital, audio, satellite, and distribution rights, surpassing the previous record held by Leo (2023), which had earned ₹400 crore (US$48 million).
The South Indian digital rights for Kanguva were sold for ₹80 crore (US$9.6 million), while the Hindi satellite, digital, and theatrical rights were sold for ₹100 crore (US$12 million). The theatrical rights for the Telugu-speaking regions were valued between ₹25–30 crore (US$3.0–3.6 million), and the Kerala theatrical rights were sold for ₹10 crore (US$1.2 million). The film’s overseas theatrical rights were sold for ₹40 crore (US$4.8 million), marking the second-highest for a Tamil film
