Shortly after the first season premiered, Shahid Kapoor stated in an interview that there would be a sequel to Farzi, but it would take some time. Additionally, he mentioned that a show’s sequel typically takes two to three years to release.
In a recent interaction with Pinkvilla, he confirmed that the season will happen. He shared that the first season got a tremendous response from the audience and the makers have left the story in a very open-ended way so there is an opportunity for a lot more to happen and it was not the end.
While the anticipation is already building, Shahid Kapoor’s remark, “It takes time to make art; garbage gets made quickly,” highlights the dedication and creativity going into crafting the new season.
Farzi Season 2 Release Date on Prime
Discussing the future of the series, Shahid shared, “Farzi Season 2, I’m sure it will happen, but these things take time. The series will require one to two years just for post-production.”
Raashii Khanna, who plays Megha Vyas, recently gave fans a hopeful update. In a social media Q&A, she mentioned that filming for the new season might start next year, hinting that the show could return by late 2025.
Recently, at the screening of Citadel: Honey Bunny, when asked about ‘Farzi’ Season 2, Shahid responded, “Ask Raj and DK about it!”
“But once the script is ready, we will start working on it. These things take time. And yes, as soon as they are ready, we will get on with it,” he added.
Given Shahid’s busy schedule with multiple film projects, we don’t expect Farzi Season 2 to premiere soon. Once production starts, it will likely take around 12 to 15 months to release. So, we anticipate Farzi Season 2 to premiere on Amazon Prime Video in 2026 or possibly later.
Farzi Season 2 Plot
The official synopsis for Farzi reads:
“Sunny, a brilliant small-time artist, is thrust into the high-stakes world of counterfeiting when he creates the perfect fake currency note. Meanwhile, Michael, a fierce and unconventional task force officer, is determined to rid the country of this counterfeit menace. In this thrilling game of cat and mouse, failure is not an option!”
The series follows Sunny, a struggling artist in India who, after failing to keep his grandfather’s revolutionary printing press, becomes disillusioned with the country’s income inequality. Teaming up with his best friend Firoz, he dives into the world of counterfeit currency.
However, their plans fail as they face both threats from criminals like Mansoor, and relentless police officers, including Michael. Farzi shares continuity with Raj & DK’s spy series The Family Man, whose third season is expected to premiere in 2025.
In the last episode of the first season, Mansoor sets fire to Madhav’s printing press, seemingly killing him. Angered, Sunny goes on a rampage. He kills many of Mansoor’s men and sets fire to the cash, promising Mansoor that he will be back for more.
Season 2 will pick up from this intense ending, delving further into Sunny’s character and his journey.
